Pinckney Holds Change of Command

SAN DIEGO (NNS) -- A change of command ceremony for the guided missile destroyer USS Pinckney (DDG 91) command ceremony Nov. 9 at Naval Base, San Diego.

Cmdr. Daniel Brintzinghoffer relieved Cmdr. Chris Peterschmidt as Commanding Officer

Rear Adm. Terrance J.T. Blake, commander, Carrier Strike Group Eleven, was the guest speaker for the event.

Pinckney, a guided missile destroyer homeported in San Diego, Calif., recently completed a six month deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom under Peterschmidt's command. During the deployment, which concluded in September, patrolled coastal waters in the Philippines and provided a reliable over-water surveillance platform for missions, in addition to conducting joint exercises at various points throughout the deployment with the Singapore Navy, Malaysian Navy, Indian Navy, Australian Navy, as well as the US Air Force.

Brintzinghoffer recently completed a tour as Congressional Liaison at the Senate Liaison Office of Legislative Affairs. Peterschmidt's next assignment is to Commander, Third Fleet as the Deputy Operations Officer.

Higgins is a member of Destroyer Squadron 23 and is part of Nimitz Carrier Strike Group.
