Israel Aerospace Industries' MLM Division Awarded Contracts in Two Countries in Asia for the Supply of Advanced EHUD ACMI (Air Combat Maneuvering Instrumentation) Systems for a Total Value of $41 Million
Nov 13, 2007
One country will be supplied with EHUD systems which can also train local air defense systems. The other country will receive new generation EHUD system, in addition to the EHUD systems operational in the country
IAI's President & CEO, Itzhak Nissan: "Winning these contracts strengthens IAI's position in the fighter aircraft training systems market. We have added an advanced application that allows, for the first time, an air force to conduct simultaneous training of pilots performing Suppression of Enemy Air Defense (SEAD) missions and personnel engaged in Anti-Aircraft interception with SAM batteries. This capability has a significant demand in other air forces around the world"
Israel Aerospace Industries' MLM Division (IAI/MLM) will supply EHUD Air Combat Maneuvering Instrumentation (ACMI) systems for training and debriefing of air combats to two undisclosed customers for a total value of $41 million.
In the first country, IAI/MLM was awarded a contract for the supply of EHUD systems at a value of $25 million. The contract is for the latest version of Air Defense Training System (ADTS) which, for the first time, allows for a close connection between fighter aircraft training in Suppression of Enemy Air Defense (SEAD) missions and anti-aircraft batteries practicing interception.
IAI/MLM's system is based on the company's EHUD ACMI system. The new system is a real-time training package which includes advanced ground-to-air and air-to-ground weapon simulations as well as virtual embedded training. Air Defense units using MLM's ADTS are able to train against live and virtual targets simultaneously creating high fidelity training scenarios. The system provides the capability to monitor and control the exercise in real-time as well as post mission debrief.
In this project, BVR Systems Ltd. is IAI/MLM's main sub-contractor.
The customer from the second country already operates previous generation of EHUD systems, and has decided to purchase newer, advanced EHUD systems. The systems chosen will allow for network training of aircraft in the air and will have full compatibility with previous generation EHUD systems.
IAI/MLM's Division was chosen with BVR Systems Ltd. to supply these systems to the undisclosed customer. In this project, IAI/MLM will serve as main sub-contractor to BVR Systems Ltd.
IAI/MLM's EHUD ACMI system provides advanced air-to-air and air-to-ground training and debriefing with real-time weapon simulations and scoring. These are combined with EW, and a complete innovative mid-air and ground collision avoidance safety suite that warns against most flight hazards.
Uri Sinai, MLM Division's General Manager said that: "We have succeeded in winning this contract over leading international manufacturers thanks to the innovative and advanced new generation of EHUD systems, which will deliver added value to the customer's' air force training program. The EHUD system will enable the customer to host and participate in international air force trainings, since our system sets the standards for aerial training systems in NATO countries."
IAI/MLM's EHUD ACMI systems are operated by the air forces of Israel, Germany, France, Italy, Thailand, Belgium, Portugal, The Netherlands, England and NATO Flight School.
IAI's MLM Division is the prime contractor of the Arrow Weapon System for ballistic missile defense, and manufacturer of: Shavit small satellite launcher, solar systems for satellites, telemetry and communications systems, precision weaponry - LORA tactical missile for land and sea, Real-time air combat pilot training debriefing and safety systems, and command and control systems.
