MND-B patrol struck by improvised explosive device
Multi-National Division – Baghdad PAO

BAGHDAD – One Multi-National Division - Baghdad Soldier was killed and eight others wounded when an improvised explosive device detonated near their vehicle during combat operations in an eastern section of the Iraqi capital Oct. 18.

Six of the eight wounded Soldiers sustained minor injuries, were treated and have returned to duty.

Units operating in this area of Baghdad continue to conduct targeted raids and clearing operations in order to disrupt insurgent and militia elements operating in this section of the Iraqi capital. Destroying these cells reduces overall sectarian violence and helps sets the conditions for the improvement of essential services, economic growth and aides in the transition of Iraqi-led security operations.

The deceased Soldier’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin and release by the Department of Defense.
