BAGHDAD – Multi-National Division - Baghdad Soldiers found a rocket rigged as an improvised explosive device and detained three men suspected of insurgent activities during operations in the Rashid District Oct. 26.

During a combat patrol, “Vanguards” from Company C, 1st Battalion, 18th Infantry Regiment, attached to the 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Inf. Div., located a partially buried 107mm rocket rigged as an IED and two make-shift mortar tubes. An explosive ordnance disposal team was called in and removed the munitions for detonation.

Earlier that day, “Warriors” of Company B, 2nd Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Inf. Div., attached to Task Force Dragon, detained three suspected insurgents responsible for the placement of IEDs in the area as the trio attempted to join the local Iraqi Security Volunteers. The Warriors were alerted to the suspected IED placers by the volunteers.
