U.S. Navy Selects Northrop Grumman for Law Enforcement Information Exchange Contract

MCLEAN, Va., Oct. 10, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has been awarded a follow-on contract from the U.S. Navy to provide full lifecycle information technology services in support of the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) Law Enforcement Information Exchange (LInX) system. LInX facilitates the sharing of data across local, state and federal agencies.

The follow-on, indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract is valued at more than $47 million to Northrop Grumman's Information Technology (IT) sector over one base year and four option years.

Northrop Grumman was awarded the first LInX contract in 2004 to develop the law enforcement information sharing system for police officers and criminal investigators in the states of Washington and Virginia. LInX has expanded to other jurisdictions across the country, including Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Texas, and the Washington, D.C. region. Additional LInX development is planned for North Carolina and Southern California in late 2007.

"The U.S. Navy and law enforcement agencies will benefit from Northrop Grumman's vast experience helping public safety organizations achieve interoperability," said John Kavanaugh, vice president of public sector solutions for Northrop Grumman IT. "Using LInX, law enforcement and criminal justice agencies will have timely and reliable access to information to effectively analyze investigative situations."

Under the terms of the current contract, Northrop Grumman will deploy, operate and maintain the LInX system at existing and new law enforcement agencies across the country. Work will include data conversion and software and interface development.

LInX provides comprehensive, proven and certified U.S. Department of Defense-level security capabilities and features, which are capable of addressing sensitive and mission-critical homeland security and law enforcement intelligence needs of state and local jurisdictions. LInX finds hidden associations and connections within existing law enforcement records sources.

Work on the contract will be performed in Reston, Va.

Northrop Grumman's teammates on the contract include Perot Systems, Plano, Texas, and Comsys, Houston.

Northrop Grumman Corporation is a $30 billion global defense and technology company whose 120,000 employees provide innovative systems, products, and solutions in information and services, electronics, aerospace and shipbuilding to government and commercial customers worldwide.
