Army Knowledge Online/Defense Knowledge Online Program Transitions to Northrop Grumman

MCLEAN, Va., Oct. 1, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has assumed duties of the Lead Service Integrator for Army Knowledge Online (AKO)/Defense Knowledge Online (DKO) system engineering, operations, and maintenance tasks. Effective today, the seamless transition was completed between the legacy AKO contractor, Cherry Road Technologies, and Northrop Grumman.

In partnership with the U.S Department of Defense DKO program office, Northrop Grumman's Information Technology (IT) sector is leading the evolution to a service-oriented architecture enabling the Defense Department to leverage common critical applications and infrastructure services to meet mission and operational requirements for forces worldwide. DKO will provide relevant information and applications to the warfighter and other government users through a secure service-oriented framework to help them perform missions more effectively.
