NORFOLK (NNS) -- Naval Operational Logistics Support Command (NOLSC), Norfolk held a change of command ceremony Aug. 17 at Naval Station Norfolk.

Capt. Raymond Rodriguez relieved Capt. William Munson as commanding officer.

Guest speaker Rear Adm. Alan Thompson, Commander Naval Supply Systems Command/Chief of Supply Corps spoke about Munson’s many accomplishments.

“It’s been a very significant period for this command and its history,” said Thompson. “He successfully integrated three departments into one command.”

During his final address, Munson expressed how grateful he was to see his three main goals accomplished during his time in command.

“I said when I first came here that one; we need to communicate with our customers globally; two, we need to contribute to the delivery and sustainment of an agile and flexible force and three, we need to organize and focus the command to eliminate the barriers from the three separate organizations,” said Munson. “The results are in and they are outstanding, employees of NOLSC have exceeded my expectations.”

Munson said he is positive Rodriguez is the right person for the job.

“I’m confident that Rodriguez is the right leader, at the right time to improve upon NOLSC.

Rodriguez, coming into his first commanding officer position, is honored that NOLSC is his first leadership position.

“I am honored to be here today, at the end of the ceremony I get to take command of a relatively young but incredibly vibrant and relevant organization,” said Rodriguez.

During his career Rodriguez earned five Meritorious Service Medals, two Navy Commendation Medals and a number of personal and unit awards during five sea tours and six shore tours.

The ceremony also honored Munson’s 27-year career coming to an end as he retired. Gifts were presented to his wife, son and parents who were on hand for the ceremony.
