L-3 Selected for United Kingdom Project LISTENER

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 14, 2007--L-3 Communications (NYSE: LLL) announced today that its Integrated Systems (L-3 IS) subsidiary has been selected as one of two preferred bidders in the Assessment Phase of Project LISTENER for the United Kingdom's Ministry of Defence.

The Assessment Phase is a $2 million, 10-month engineering effort for risk reduction and solution definition. Main Gate for the project is scheduled for 2009.

Project LISTENER integrates sensor products in order to provide actionable data against selected targets and provide interoperability between the U.K., U.S. and Coalition ISTAR assets. LISTENER will build on the experience of L-3's Network Centric Collaborative Targeting (NCCT) program. NCCT networks Command and Control (C2) and Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance (ISR) assets to dramatically improve target location accuracy, timeliness and combat identification for the war fighter. Previously, L-3 equipped U.K. Nimrod and Sentry aircraft with NCCT for exercise Trident Warrior 2005 during the Project LISTENER Concept Phase.

L-3 will be prime contractor for the effort, leading a team which includes U.K. partner companies QinetiQ and LogicaCMG. QinetiQ, with a workforce of 11,500 people, is a leading global defense technology and security company that creates, evaluates, tests and delivers technology-based services, solutions and products to government and commercial customers.
