Thales sees succesful flight-tests for the NFH90 Radar
05 August 2007
Neuilly sur Seine, 5 August 2007 – Thales today announces that the European Navy Radar (ENR), the radar for the naval version of the NH90 (NFH90) has been successfully flight-tested during a two week period in Hyères, South East France.
The ENR is a new-generation maritime patrol radar derived from Thales' Ocean Master radar family. Developed in conjunction with EADS (Germany) and Galileo Avionica (Italy), the ENR is integrated into the NH90's mission system by Agusta Westland.
The objective of these tests was to evaluate on a full-scale the air-to-surface capabilities, which represent Thales' share in the radar. The results of this flight campaign are in line with expectations and confirm that the air-to-surface detection capability is on-track for the NH90 qualification.
Notes to editors
Thales plays a major role in both versions of the NH90 (TTH and NFH), being involved in the supply of equipment for the cockpit, navigation systems, communications systems, mission system and the surveillance and self-protection system.
