YIGO, Guam (NNS) -- Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 25 conducted training exercises starting July 25 to prepare the unit for future deployments to Kuwait and Iraq.
The exercise was part of the Helicopter Advanced Readiness Program. During the training, the island of Guam was divided in half with the northern part simulating Kuwait and the southern part Iraq.
“Mission readiness will increase from the training as well as job performance,” said Aviation Warfare Systems Operator 1st Class (AW/NAC) Jeff Muenchrath from HSC Weapons School Pacific, San Diego.
HSC Weapons School Pacific team members were on island to conduct the training and assess how the crews reacted to the scenarios presented to them.
Some of the scenarios conducted during the three days of exercises included car accidents, road side bombs, point of injury and mass causalities.
“Learning how to work as a crew in more of a combat situation with higher threat environments helps the crew prepare for the future deployments,” said Muenchrath. “The increase in tasking in that part of the world requires everyone to maintain mission readiness levels in case the call to deploy comes, and that’s exactly what we’re doing.”
