MND-B patrol struck by roadside bomb
Multi-National Division – Baghdad PAO

BAGHDAD —One Multi-National Division - Baghdad Soldier was killed and four others wounded when an improvised explosive device detonated near their patrol during combat operations in an eastern section of the Iraqi capital July 17.

Two insurgents responsible for this attack were positively identified, engaged and killed following this attack.

Units operating in this area of Baghdad continue to conduct combined clearing operations with their Iraqi Army counterparts in an effort to degrade insurgent operational capabilities. Sustained operations of this nature are designed to reduce sectarian violence and help set the conditions for the improvement of essential services, economic growth and aid in the overall transition of security operations with Iraqi Security Forces in the lead.

The deceased Soldier’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin and release by the Department of Defense.
