MND-B patrol struck by improvised explosive device, small arms fire
Multi-National Division – Baghdad PAO
BAGHDAD — A Multi-National Division-Baghdad Soldier was killed in a small arms fire attack that followed an improvised explosive device strike targeting a joint combat patrol in a western section of the Iraqi capital July 1. Two Iraqi National Police officers were also wounded in the attack.
Elements from this unit continue to conduct clearing operations in this area of the Iraqi capital. These ongoing operations are designed to reduce sectarian violence and help set the conditions for the improvement of essential services, economic growth and aid in the transition of security operations with Iraqi Security Forces in the lead.
The deceased Soldier’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin and release by the Department of Defense.
