BAE SYSTEMS ANNOUNCES PLANS FOR OPERATIONS IN ELGIN, OKLAHOMA

07-19-2007

MINNEAPOLIS - BAE Systems announced today that in 2008, the company will begin operations in Elgin, Oklahoma, starting with the production of the Army's FCS Non Line of Sight - Cannon. It is anticipated that a 150,000 square-foot manufacturing facility will be completed in early 2009.

The new facility, BAE Systems - Elgin Operations, will be located in the Fort Sill Industrial Park. The industrial park will be built by the city of Elgin and leased to BAE Systems. Construction is scheduled to begin later this year. During construction of the Fort Sill Industrial Park, BAE Systems will put into place a core Elgin Integration Team (EIT) that will begin work out of an interim facility in Elgin in 2008. The EIT will help coordinate the new facility's completion as well as begin the transition of work to Elgin for the long term.

"The establishment of BAE Systems - Elgin Operations is the next step in the long-standing relationship BAE Systems has developed during the past 10 years with the people of Elgin and Comanche County," said Dennis Morris, BAE Systems president of Armament Systems. "We're proud to call Elgin our home. We look forward to partnering with the people of Southwest Oklahoma to support our Warfighters at Fort Sill and across the nation with the world's most advanced artillery systems."

BAE Systems is establishing operations in Elgin because of the strong, dedicated workforce in southwest Oklahoma and the close proximity to Fort Sill, the home of U.S. Field Artillery and the Fires Center of Excellence. BAE Systems is the premier provider of artillery systems to the U.S. military and the company's location in Elgin will establish Southwest Oklahoma as the core for the development of current and future artillery technology.
