Roadside bomb strikes MND-B patrol
Multi-National Division – Baghdad PAO

BAGHDAD — While conducting combat operations in the western section of the Iraqi capital, a Multi-National Division-Baghdad Soldier was killed when an improvised explosive device detonated June 2. Eight other Soldiers were also wounded in the attack, six of them have been returned to duty.

In the past week, elements of this unit have conducted targeted raids capturing four suspected insurgents as well as discovering weapons caches including small arms, ammunition, and rocket-propelled grenades. The arrest of these individuals and the finding of these weapons reduces the threat of terrorist attacks and aids in providing a more secure and safe living environment for the Iraqi people.

The deceased Soldier’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin and release by the Department of Defense.
