Soldier dies of wounds from IED strike
Multi-National Division – Baghdad PAO
BAGHDAD – While conducting combat operations in the southwest section of the Iraqi capital, a Multi-National Division-Baghdad Soldier was seriously wounded when an improvised explosive device detonated May 30.
The Soldier was taken to the Combat Support Hospital, but died of those wounds.
In the past week, elements of this unit have detained two suspected insurgents and found weapons caches including small arms weapons, ammunition, and rocket-propelled grenades.
Arresting these individuals andfinding these weapons caches helps reduce the threat of terrorist attacks and aids in providing a more secure and safe living environment for the Iraqi people.
The deceased Soldier’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin and release by the Department of Defense.
