Airbus Military selects Thales to provide global training solutions for A400M aircraft
20 June 2007
Formal agreements have been signed for the delivery of full-flight simulators to AMSL and a Memorandum of Understanding for the provision of training solutions to the UK and France.
This agreement will allow Airbus Military SL and Thales to join their considerable capabilities to provide the design, development and delivery of training systems and services to customers. AMSL, as part of their aircraft design and build expertise, will provide A400M aircraft training know-how, whilst Thales will bring its background in simulator, training systems integration and training delivery to support the whole training solution. By co-operating in this way, AMSL and Thales, together with AMSL's industrial Partners (Airbus, EADS, TAI and FLABEL), can offer individual training solutions to interested nations that will become part of the A400M Training Centre network.
Jacques Rabain, VP Defence and Aerospace activities of Thales's Security Solutions & Services branch, said: "I welcome these agreements with AMSL and look forward to a long-term relationship on the A400M programme to meet each customer's training needs. Thales has considerable expertise and background in Private Financial Initiative, turn-key simulation and aircrew training services and welcomes the opportunity to use them in support of AMSL and nations procuring A400M aircraft."
Karl-Heinz Fuchs, VP Airbus Military Customer Services, said: "Training is one of the pillars of Airbus Military's strategy to make the A400M the most efficient logistic and tactical airlifter available to armed forces worldwide. The partnership with Thales, will enhance our capability to offer the full range of in-service support to all A400M operators. Our recognized expertise in training pilots, ground-crew and support-personnel, together with Thales's extensive knowledge of training equipment and services ensures that we will meet the customers exacting demands."
