Baltops-2007 military exercise begins in the Baltic Sea
04/06/2007 16:01 VILNIUS, June 4 (RIA Novosti) - International naval and military exercise Baltops-2007 (Baltic Operations) has begun in the Baltic Sea and will run through June 15, the Lithuanian Defense Ministry press service said Monday.
The exercise involves 25 warships, two submarines, several fighter jets and helicopters from 11 countries and will be staged in the territorial waters of Denmark, Sweden, and Germany.
The ministry said Lithuania will be represented in the military exercise by the Aukstaitis frigate with 63 crewmembers on board.
The Baltops exercise, organized by the United States, has been held annually since 1994 within the framework of the NATO Partnership for Peace Program.
