Roadside bomb strikes MND-B patrol
Multi-National Division – Baghdad PAO

BAGHDAD — While conducting a combat security patrol in the western section of the Iraqi capital, one Multi-National Division-Baghdad Soldier was killed and four others were wounded when an improvised explosive device detonated May 26. Two Soldiers have been returned to duty.

During the past few weeks, elements of this unit have detained numerous suspected terrorist and found several sizable weapons caches including more than 70 rifles, 1,500 rounds of ammunition, six machine guns, 13 pistols, 10 rocket-propelled grenades, three mortars and an assortment of equipment used to carry out terrorist attacks. Finding these weapons caches and arresting the individuals affiliated with them reduces the threat of terrorist attacks to Iraqi citizens.

The deceased Soldier’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin and release by the Department of Defense.
