MND-B units attacked during operations
Multi-National Division – Baghdad PAO

BAGHDAD — While conducting combat operations two MND-B Soldiers were killed and nine others were wounded in separate attacks in the southern section of the Iraqi capital May 17. Three Soldiers have been returned to duty.

Units in the area have been conducting clearing operations and targeted raids resulting in uncovering more than 50 weapons cache sites, getting illegal weapons off the streets and detaining more than 20 individuals in the past few weeks. Units in the area are also facilitating more than 70 reconstruction projects including the essential services of providing reliable electricity, clean running water, and sanitary waste and trash deposal.

The deceased Soldiers’ names are being withheld pending notification of next of kin and release by the Department of Defense.
