Roadside bomb strikes MND-B patrol
Multi-National Division – Baghdad PAO

BAGHDAD — While conducting a combat patrol an MND-B Soldier was killed when an improvised explosive device struck the unit’s vehicle in a southern section of the Iraqi capital, wounding one other Soldier May 6.

Iraqi Security Forces and Multi-National Division – Baghdad Soldiers continue conducting operations in support of Operation Fardh Al-Qanoon, to help set on-going conditions for a stable and self-reliant Iraq.

Recently the unit had conducted combined cordon and search operations in the area with Iraqi national police in an effort to disrupt insurgent activity, targeting improvised explosive device (IED) making cells, in order to provide a more secure environment for Iraqi citizens.

The deceased Soldier’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin and release by the Department of Defense.
