ATK Awarded $85.8 Million Contract for Trident II Solid Rocket Propulsion Systems

ATK's 51-Year History Of Submarine Missile Propulsion Extended Through 2011

MINNEAPOLIS, April 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Alliant Techsystems (NYSE: ATK) has received an $85.8 million contract from Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) to produce solid rocket propulsion systems for all three stages of the U.S. Navy's Trident II (D-5) Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM).

Under terms of the contract, ATK will continue to supply Trident solid rocket propulsion systems to the Trident II (D-5) Missile System Prime Contractor, Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company, Sunnyvale, Calif, through 2011. Deployed in 1990, Trident II (D-5) is the only U.S. submarine-launched strategic missile system in production today. The propulsion systems will be produced by ATK at its facilities in Utah.
