ATK Wins $10.5 Million Contract to Provide Precision-Guided Munition Reprogramming Equipment

ATK DESIGNED CMBRE PLUS TO TEST CURRENT AND NEXT-GENERATION PRECISION WEAPON SYSTEMS
CMBRE PLUS FACILITATES SOFTWARE UPDATES ON FLIGHT LINES AND CARRIER DECKS

MINNEAPOLIS, March 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Alliant Techsystems (NYSE: ATK) has received a $10.5 million contract from Headquarters Aeronautical Systems Center, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio to produce an advanced version of the company's Common Munitions Built-in-Test Reprogramming Equipment (CMBRE). The CMBRE Plus system will allow U.S. Air Force and Navy personnel to test and update software on numerous munitions such as the Joint Direct Attack Munition, the Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missile as well as next-generation weapon systems such as the Small Diameter Bomb.

Advanced precision-guided munitions require complex processors that need high-speed reprogramming equipment. To meet the growing demand for sophisticated test equipment, the CMBRE Plus is equipped with a 100MHz Ethernet port, Windows XP and Extended Bit-Rate (EBR) capabilities. At the same time, the CMBRE Plus is capable of servicing the U.S. military's existing inventory of smart munitions. Consequently, the CMBRE Plus is capable of testing the weapons of today as well as those that will enter service in the future.

"ATK's CMBRE Plus will help the U.S. military extend the life of existing technology, while meeting the needs of next-generation weapons technology" said Steve Myers, Vice President and general Manager, ATK Integrated Systems. The award is the first option in a seven-year option contract. Work on the contract will be performed at ATK's facility in Clearwater, FL.
