IMMEDIATE RELEASE | March 21, 2007 |
The Department of Defense announced today the death of two soldiers who were supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. They died Mar. 20 in Baghdad, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated near their vehicle during combat operations. They were assigned to the 1st Battalion, 28th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kansas.
Killed were:
Sgt. Wayne R. Cornell, 26, of Holstein, Neb.
Pfc. Stephen K. Richardson, 22, of Bridgeport, Conn.
