Thales launches Comm@nder®, the formula for operational C4I
20 February 2007
Abu Dhabi, 20 February 2007. IDEX 07 will host the first international presentation of Thales Computerised Command, Control, Communications and Intelligence (C4I) capability under the trademark Comm@nder.
Thales C4I know-how, expressed until then as sensor systems, communication systems, command centres, digitised platforms, shooters or soldiers, is now blended in the Comm@nder® capability solution, arming it with proven references worldwide.
Comm@nder® rests on a standardised and open technical core hosting tactical communications and operational information systems, forming an enabling architecture upon which key functions of C4I can be integrated.
In doing so, Thales has leveraged on its ability to deliver interoperable solutions from many countries (Australia, Canada, Germany, France, Netherlands, UK or South Africa to name but a few), to military organizations around the world.
Pierre Suslenschi, Thales Vice President, Joint & C2ISR Business Line, stresses: "Comm@nder® is aiming at delivering information superiority between networked forces on the digitised battlespace. It serves the ultimate beneficiary of information: the decision-maker. Industry has to deal with the growing complexity of multiple C4I technologies and integrate them in a transparent way to the operational user; Comm@nder® can address battlespace digitisation from bottom-up, taking over legacy tactical communications, networks, sensors or command & control applications, to produce a synchronised flow of information between command posts, intelligence assets, and fielded forces."
The Comm@nder® family networks headquarters Comm@nder® Joint, with Land command posts Comm@nder® Army, mobile units of action Comm@nder® Battle, down to the dismounted soldier Comm@nder® Contact. It also integrates C2 with key operational supports, thanks to Comm@nder® Fire and Comm@nder® Intel, for shared situational awareness and actionable enemy information. With battlespace digitisation bearing a tremendous impact on human resources, re-training needs of tactical leaders of digitised forces are met by Comm@nder® Training, which merges simulation with live command posts.
Comm@nder® can be summarised as the Thales C4I formula for information dominance on the digitised battlespace. This capability supports smooth transformation from legacy to networked operations over the peace-crisis-war continuum.
