Data Link Solutions Receives Multifunctional Information Distribution Systems Contract for Saudi Arabia

01-30-2007

WAYNE, New Jersey — Data Link Solutions has received a $34.8 million U.S. Air Force contract from Warner Robins Air Logistic Center to provide Link 16 Multifunctional Information Distribution Systems (MIDS) capability to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Link 16 provides real-time data communications, situational awareness, and navigation, all in a jam-resistant, crypto-secured package.

The award, which marks Saudi Arabia’s first purchase of MIDS, will include deliveries of the MIDS LVT-3 Fighter Data Link to be incorporated on the Saudi F-15 fleet. It follows a previous award for Link 16 equipment to support Saudi E-3 AWACS.

"Through this award, Data Link Solutions extends its commitment to providing U.S. and coalition forces with interoperable Link 16 capability," said David Erusha, Data Link Solutions director. Data Link Solutions provides the majority of Link 16 terminals for command and control aircraft, ships, and fixed and mobile ground sites for U.S. and coalition forces worldwide.

With Link 16, participants gain situational awareness by exchanging voice and digital data over a common communications link that is continuously and automatically updated in real time. Today, various types of Link 16 terminals provide interoperable communications aboard tactical fighter aircraft, command and control aircraft, ships, and fixed and mobile ground sites.

Work will be performed in Wayne, New Jersey, and Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
