India and Russia are likely to sign a number of major agreements on defense cooperation during the forthcoming visit of President Vladimir Putin to India.
They include the purchase of advanced version of T-90 tanks and more stealth frigates and Sukhoi-30 jets.

Decks will be cleared for these deals at the coming meeting of the inter-governmental commission on military technical cooperation scheduled to be held in New Delhi on January 24.
The meeting will be co-chaired by Russia's Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov and his Indian counterpart A.K. Antony.
The Cabinet Committee on Security has cleared a deal to purchase on additional 30 to 40 Su-30 MKI jets.
It has also given its nod to sign an agreement with Russia for manufacture of RD-33 series of engines for the MIG-29 fighter aircraft.
The engines will be manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited under license from the Russian government.
