
MQ-1 Predator unmanned aerial vehicle crashes
1/17/2007 - SOUTHWEST ASIA (AFNEWS) -- A U.S. Central Command Air Forces MQ-1 Predator unmanned aerial vehicle crashed five miles southeast of Baghdad International Airport Jan. 17 at approximately 11:35 p.m. local Baghdad time. The crash site is an unpopulated area and no collateral damage or injuries occurred.
The aircraft is a medium-altitude long-endurance, remotely piloted aircraft. The MQ-1's primary mission is conducting armed reconnaissance.
The crash does not appear to be from hostile activity. A board will be convened to investigate the incident.
