As the security situation continues to be volatile, the Sri Lankan Air Force (SLAF) carried out three air strikes at Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) locations in northern and eastern parts of the island this morning.

According to the All India Radio report, briefing the media in Colombo this morning the Air Force spokesman Group Captain Ajanta De Silva said that two air operations were carried out at 'identified LTTE sea-tiger bases' north of Mannar. The third air strike was targeted at Vaharai in the eastern coast.

However the LTTE has claimed that 15 civilians were killed and 30 injured in the air force strike in Mannar district. LTTE Military spokesman accused that four bombs dropped by the air force fell on a fishing village at Padahuthurai, south-west of Mannar.
