IED STRIKES MND-B PATROL NORTH OF BAGHDAD

BAGHDAD – An improvised explosive device detonated near a Multi-National Division - Baghdad patrol north of the Iraqi capital, killing one Soldier Jan. 27.

The unit was conducting a route reconnaissance when the roadside bomb detonated, killing the Soldier.

Earlier this month, the unit assisted locals by installing electrical generators to provide supplement power supplied by the national power grid. They have also found numerous roadside bombs on main traveling routes in the area making the roads less dangerous for Iraqi residents and Coalition Forces.

The deceased Soldier’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
