Two Soldiers killed by IED near Baghdad
Multi-National Division – Baghdad PAO
BAGHDAD – An improvised explosive device detonated near a Multi-National Division - Baghdad patrol, killing two Soldiers southwest of the Iraqi capital Dec. 25.
The joint patrol was conducting security operations in order to stop terrorists from emplacing roadside bombs in the area. As they conducted their mission, a roadside bomb exploded near one of their vehicles. Another Soldier was also wounded in the explosion.
Recently, the unit discovered a large explosive device in the area. After uncovering the munitions, the unit successfully secured the site for an explosive ordnance team to destroy the cache.
The deceased Soldiers’ names are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
