DOD NAMES BAE SYSTEMS AS 'TRUSTED SOURCE' FOR MICROELECTRONICS

12-11-2006

MANASSAS, Va. — The Department of Defense has accredited BAE Systems’ Semiconductor Technology Center in Manassas, Va., as a “trusted source” for defense and space microelectronics.

The Manassas facility was notified by DoD’s Trusted Access Program Office, that it had achieved the DoD Accreditation of Trust as a Microelectronics Trusted Source (Category 1). The accreditation, awarded following a review by the Program Office, is valid for one year and subject to annual revalidation.

The DoD’s accreditation program defines levels of “robustness” for facilities supplying crucial information technology, such as the radiation-hardened microelectronics manufactured at Manassas.

“The accreditation confirms BAE Systems’ commitment: to be the most dependable and secure source of innovative microelectronics for our defense and space customers,” said George Nossaman, director of Advanced Digital Solutions for BAE Systems in Manassas.

The BAE Systems Semiconductor Technology Center has provided radiation-hardened products and system solutions to the military and space community since 1980.
