Oct 26, 2006
EuroNaval 2006, Paris, France - Elta Systems Group, a subsidiary of Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI), has been selected to provide its EL/M-2248 Multi-Function Surveillance, Tracking and Missile Guidance (MF-STAR) radar to upgrade an undisclosed customer’s naval flagships. The contract includes several radars and is estimated to be worth $200 million.
Elta’s EL/M-2248 MF-STAR radar is part of a family of Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) naval radars. EL/M-2248 MF-STAR employs multi-beam, pulse Doppler and robust Electronic Counter Counter Measure (ECCM) techniques to detect and classify low radar cross section (RCS) targets in complex clutter and jamming environments.
EL/M-2248 MF-STAR is designed for the latest generation of naval ships and can be tailored to a wide variety of vessels. The radar supports weapon systems by gathering data on air and surface targets at long ranges to create a high quality naval theater situation picture.
Israel Aircraft Industries is a recognized leader in the aerospace and defense industry and Israel’s largest industrial exporter. IAI's Elta Systems Group is one of Israel's leading defense electronics companies and a leader in Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance (ISTAR) applications.
