General Dynamics to Provide Non-Personal Advisory and Assistance Services to U.S. Air Force Chief Information Officer

FAIRFAX, Va. – The Headquarters Air Force District of Washington has awarded General Dynamics Information Technology (IT), a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), a contract to support the Office of the Headquarters U.S. Air Force (HAF) Chief Information Officer (CIO), (HAF/ICI). Under the contract General Dynamics will supply personnel, equipment, tools, materials, and supervision to provide non-personal advisory and assistance services (A&AS) to the HAF/ICI. The total potential value of the contract if all options are exercised is $20 million over five years.

“Through previous work, General Dynamics is very familiar with the vision, mission, and goals of the HAF/ICI,” said Ken Hess, group vice president, Air Force Programs, General Dynamics Information Technology. “We are proud to gain the opportunity to support HAF/ICI in setting its policy and establishing resources for engineering and installing its new records management system.”

General Dynamics will provide A&AS support to HAF/ICI staff, projects, and customer base – comprised of other HAF organizations, agencies, and activities HAF/ICI supports or oversees – and will support several projects relating to information assurance, commercial/government off-the-shelf software project management support, policy development, and resource analysis. These activities will include the participation of selected Air Force organizations, Direct Reporting Units, and Field Operating Agencies relative to their involvement in HAF/ICI activities.

This contract win demonstrates the growth of General Dynamics support to HAF/ICI. General Dynamics currently provides analysis and support to the Air Force for the transition of the Headquarters Information Project (HIP) Office to the HAF/ICI organization. General Dynamics continues to provide expertise as the Air Force transitions information systems to web technology via the Air Force Portal, and previously assisted the Air Force CIO in the definition and development of a transition plan.

The contract was awarded in the name of Anteon, which was acquired by General Dynamics in June 2006.
