Pakistan-US General-Visit
General John P Abizaid, commander of US Central Command arrived in Pakistan on a three-day official visit on Sunday, the military said.
During the visit Commander US CENTCOM will call on senior military officers of Pakistan Army where matters of professional interest will be discussed, a military statement said.
The statement did not give any further details, but it is believed that the two sides would also review security along the Pak-Afghan border.
General Abizaid, a frequent visitor of Pakistan, last visited Pakistan in the month of May.
He arrived in Pakistan from his visit to Afghanistan, where he praised Pakistan's efforts against al-Qaeda suspects and Taliban.
General Abizaid commands all US forces in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The visit of the CENTCOM chief follows a meeting of tripartite commission in Kabul which groups Afghanistan, Pakistan, the US and NATO.
Last week's meeting had decided to step up patrolling along the Pak-Afghan border areas to curb the cross-border-movement of militants.
The United States has some 18,000 troops in Afghanistan, who are engaged in combat operations against Taliban now mainly in eastern provinces, bordering Pakistan.
