Iran-Lebanon-Speaker
Majlis Speaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel here Tuesday said that the Islamic resistance movement, Hezbollah, has emerged the real winner in the Middle East war.
"The army of the Zionist regime showed itself powerless for the first time after failing to break the determination of the Lebanese people and the Islamic resistance movement (Hezbollah) 33 days after the start of the war in Lebanon," Haddad-Adel said while addressing an open session of Majlis.
Pointing to the US military backing for Israel during Tel Aviv's bombardments on Lebanon, he regretted that defensless and innocent Lebanese people were the victims of Israeli bombs dropped on residential units in cooperation with US warplanes.
Nonetheless, he added, the Lebanese people and Hezbollah fighters fought bravely and managed to inflict heavy blows on the Israeli army, which eventually admitted that over a hundred of its soldiers were killed.
Haddad-Adel expressed felicitations to the Lebanese people, government, parliament and the Islamic resistance movement's chief, Seyed Hassan Nasrallah, for the victory they achieved against the Zionist regime in the latter's brutal aggression on Lebanon.
"The Lebanese government protected the country through its careful judgments and unity during the war," he said.
The speaker added that he held a phone conversation with his Lebanese counterpart, Nabih Berri, who, he said, praised the support of the Iranian Majlis for Lebanon in the war.
"After Hezbollah's victory in the war, resistance has become a new force in the Islamic world. It is not limited to just a country.
It is a strategy and a culture," he said.
He stressed that the culture has surged in popularity in the Islamic world.
"The 33-day war was a turning point for the Islamic world." "All peoples throughout the world agree that the Lebanese nation, Islamic resistance and Hezbollah have emerged winners in the war," he added.
Haddad-Adel expressed confidence the resilient Lebanese people and Muslims all over the world will not hesitate to contribute efforts toward reconstruction of Lebanon.
But he criticized the silence of Arab states toward the aggressions of Israel on Lebanon, saying "they should revise their policies."
The speaker said that the terms of UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which established the ceasefire, were clearly influenced by the US and Zionist regime's allies.
"The resolution has several weak points but the Lebanese government and Islamic resistance movement considered it to be beneficial and decided to accept it."
