
General Dynamics to Support the Naval Surface Warfare Center - Dahlgren Division
FAIRFAX, Va. – The U.S. Navy has selected General Dynamics Information Technology, a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), to provide engineering, analytical and technical support to achieve Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) among and between electronic systems and equipment at the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD). The total potential value of the contract if all options are exercised is $41 million over a five-year period of performance.
“With the award of this contract, General Dynamics will continue to provide worldwide support to the fleet in identifying and correcting Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) issues onboard ships and at shore establishments,” said Marcus Collier, senior vice president, General Dynamics Information Technology. “NSWCDD takes pride in their ability to provide a rapid response anywhere, anytime, and we are proud to be part of that team in ensuring the war fighter has the tools needed to effectively meet any challenge.”
Specific technical areas or programs General Dynamics will support through this contract include shipboard EMC support, EMC system engineering for the Joint Tactical Information Distribution System, missile system EMC, composite material shipboard utilization and cooperative engagement capability EMC.
In addition, General Dynamics will provide electromagnetic environmental effects/EMC support for new ship construction and overhaul, systems development, topside design and ship self-defense, as well as analyses and planning.
NSWCDD is one of the U. S. Navy’s principal research, development, test and evaluation, engineering and fleet support activities for surface warfare, surface ship combat systems, ordnance, strategic systems, amphibious warfare, mines and mine countermeasures, and amphibious and special warfare systems. The Division conducts analysis, systems engineering, research, test, evaluation and integration of important naval and joint warfare systems.
The contract was awarded in the name of Anteon, as a task order under Anteon’s Seaport-e contract. Anteon was acquired by General Dynamics in June 2006.
