Hezbollah exercising civil defense to thwart Israeli aggression on Lebanon

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, Aug 6, IRNA
Iran-Lebanon-Larijani
Secretary of Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Larijani said on Sunday that Hezbollah is exercising civil defense to thwart Israeli aggression on Lebanon.

He said that Iran regards Hezbollah as Lebanon's national defense force who renders moral support for Lebanon in its defense against Israeli expansionist goals.

On Iraq, he said that Iran also supports Iraqi opposition leaders under the deposed dictator Saddam Hussein and that's why Iran has friendly relationship with the present Iraqi leaders.

"As we offered support to Iraqi opposition leaders under the deposed dictator to save Iraqis from Saddam's crimes, we are offering moral and material support to the Lebanese people at a time when they are subject to Israeli war crimes."

He said in the meantime that Iran delivers no military equipment to Lebanese defense force adding that Hezbollah does not need Iranian arms. Larijani also rejected allegations on delivery of missiles to Hezbollah from Iran.

"Lebanon has military capability to stand against Israeli invasion. We condemn Israel's savage aggressions on Lebanon," he said.

"Those who are politically asleep in the region or deliberately pretend to be asleep under the current critical situation in Lebanon should be responsive in the current ongoing crimes to which the Lebanese people have been exposed," Larijani said.

Asked about the UN Security Council resolution on Iranian nuclear program and whether Iran will review its policy in the wake of the resolution, he said that Iran does not deem it necessary to review its policy, "because, we regard our policy correct and logical."

He said the Iranian nation supports policy of its own government concerning the nuclear program and the government is keen on restoring the national rights of Iranians.

"Iran does not like to get engaged in conflict and is ready to remove any concerns through negotiations. There is no doubt that the Americans have double standards which led to mistrust between Iran and the United States," Larijani said.
