
General Dynamics Information Technology Awarded $18 million Contract to Support U.S. Navy C4I Systems and Networks
FAIRFAX, Va. – The U.S. Navy Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center San Diego (SSC San Diego) has awarded General Dynamics Information Technology, a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), a contract to provide systems engineering, development and analysis in support of Joint and National Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (C4I) initiatives. The total potential value of the contract, if all options are exercised, is $18.5 million over a five-year period of performance.
“The award of this contract provides General Dynamics with an additional opportunity to provide superior systems engineering services to the SSC San Diego − through its Command and Control Division − in support of current and future C4I systems,” stated Ken Slaght, senior vice president at General Dynamics Information Technology. “General Dynamics is proud that our strong history of providing exceptional performance continues to generate new opportunities to work with the U.S. Navy.”
General Dynamics will provide systems engineering, development, analysis and support services for current and future Navy, Joint and National C4I systems and networks. The company currently provides Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) Systems Development support as well as systems engineering, prototype, logistics, and test and evaluation support for the development of surveillance systems for the Joint and National Systems Division at SSC San Diego.
SSC San Diego is one of five field activities of Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR). SPAWAR and its systems centers provide much of the tactical and non-tactical information management technology required by the Navy to complete its operational missions. SSC San Diego provides the U.S. Navy with research, development, test and evaluation, engineering and fleet support for command, control and communication systems and ocean surveillance. SSC San Diego provides information resources to support the joint warfighter in mission execution and force protection.
The contract was awarded April 11, 2006 in the name of Anteon, which was acquired by General Dynamics in June 2006.
