Nepal-Military Secretariat-Scraps
The Seven Party Alliance (SPA) government scrapped the Principal Military Secretariat (PMS), introducing significant changes to the royal palace security.
A Security Coordination Office (SCO) set up on Tuesday under the Ministry of Defense will now look after the royal palace's security, a meeting of the Council of Ministers (CoM) decided Monday, Kantipur reported.
The government is, however, yet to decide the modalities of the SCO.
"The structure of the SCO will be as decided by the Defense Ministry," State Minister for Information and Communications, Dilendra Prasad Badu said after the meeting.
Situated in the royal palace, the PMS used to look after the palace security, including during visits made by the royal family members.
The PMS comprised of a military brigade, with some 2500 soldiers to look after the security of Nirmal Niwas and Narayahiti/Nagarjun Royal Palaces.
Badu also said decisions were made on putting forth governance management and operation act, poverty alleviation fund, competition promotion and market protection act as new bills in the House of Representatives and informed that the bio-technology policies were also approved.
The water-ways regulations were worked out new, second amendment was made on the travel and trekking agency act, and the labor regulations was amended to remove the earlier provision of canceling the license of the foreign employment company which cannot send 50 workers annually, said the minister of state.
