Syrian Ambassador to Algeria Issa Darvish termed as "completely baseless" allegations that Iran and Syria are interfering in affairs of Lebanon.
Speaking to reporters on Sunday, he said Iran does not need to interefere in Lebanon's domestic affairs.
He said Iran has the capabilities to defend its interests in the region.
Darvish referred to oil as a "weapon" which Iran can use to defend its national interests.
Referring to principles and policies of the Islamic Republic defending the Islamic resistance against Israel, he said Iran has been extending support since after 1979 Islamic Revolution to Palestinians.
"And the point is that Iran has links to Arabic nations because of common historical, geographical and religious interests," he noted.
