NEW ORLEANS (NNS) -- Capt. Robin R. Braun relieved Capt. Scott F. Bohnenkamp as commander of the Navy Air Logistics Office (NALO) July 20 here at the National World War II Museum.

Commander, Naval Air Force Reserve Rear Adm. Jeffrey A. Lemmons served as keynote speaker for the event.

“I get to see a lot of great people, great Sailors, in my travels,” Lemmons said. “I see our Reserve Force in action all over the world. Great things are being done by us today, and NALO helps make them happen.”

Lemmons went on to speak about how surprised he was at the relatively small size of NALO in comparison to the number of things they accomplish.

“I was amazed at how so small a group can get so much done. It’s a testament to great strength of organization, which starts with the leader,” he said.

“I have never lost sleep worrying if NALO would get the job done, because I knew the quality and caliber of their leader," he added. "Thank you, [Capt. Bohnenkamp], from the bottom of my heart.”

Once her orders were read, Braun concluded the ceremony by officially introducing herself to NALO and explaining her hopes for her tenure as commander.

“I’m thrilled to be here. The people of NALO are a mix of Full Time Support, Regular Navy, Marines and civilians, all of whom are dedicated to service and sacrifice," Braun said. "I am proud to join your ranks.”

“As we move ahead, I look forward to working with, and getting to know, all of you. I will continue the initiatives set forward by Capt. Bohnenkamp to elevate NALO to an even greater level of achievement,” she said.

Bohnenkamp, who will next serve as commanding officer of University of Oklahoma at Norman’s Navy Reserve Officer Training Unit, took the opportunity to say goodbye and pass on some final words to the NALO crew.

“This has been an outstanding and remarkable tour,” he said. “I will forever be proud for all you’ve done. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve with you.”

Before reading his orders, Bohnenkamp took the opportunity to perform his last act as commander of NALO. He promoted one of his Sailors, Yeoman Seaman John Ortilla, to Yeoman 3rd Class.

NALO’s primary mission is developing worldwide airlift policy change recommendations for Commander, Naval Air Reserve, and to schedule and evaluate Navy airlift missions in support of the global war on terrorism.
