FMV ORDERS THE NEXT GENERATION VEHICLE SYSTEM SEP BY BAE SYSTEMS HÄGGLUNDS
17 Jul 2006 | Ref. 215/2006
Stockholm, Sweden -- Today FMV (the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration) placed a development order, valued at around 500 million Swedish Kronor, for the next generation military vehicle system SEP from BAE Systems Hägglunds.
The development order includes two SEP 6X6 wheeled vehicles and two SEP tracked vehicles, in both troop transport and logistic configurations. The Swedish Defence Force plans to have the SEP system in operation by 2014.
Sven Kågevall, president of BAE Systems Hägglunds, said: “This is a significant order for BAE Systems Hägglunds. However, the Company is not the only winner. The Swedish Army will have a highly-flexible military vehicle system with extensive development potential for the future. The SEP configuration selected by the Swedish Defence Force will be transportable by air in the Swedish Hercules C130 and should prove to be an excellent vehicle system in support of international rapid reaction force missions.
“Since the first delivery of CV90 to Sweden 1994, BAE Systems Hägglunds has sold 20 billion Swedish Kronor worth of CV90 on the export market. I am convinced that when we look back at the export figures for SEP, these figures will far exceed those of CV90. SEP will be a very good export business”, said Sven Kågevall.
SEP is a military vehicle system available in both wheeled and tracked configurations which can carry a number of different role modules depending on the intended purpose. SEP is a relatively light vehicle with electric alternative mechanic transmission, high loading capacity and can be transported by air.
