113 Lebanese killed in Israel attacks - Health Ministry
16/07/2006 18:00 BEIRUT, July 16 (RIA Novosti) - The number of Lebanese people killed in Israeli attacks on regions inside the country has increased to 113, the country's health minister said Sunday.
Israel launched a military operation in Lebanon after the Hizbollah movement took two Israeli soldiers hostage on Wednesday. Israeli aircraft also bombed the Gaza Strip.
A total of 26,000 Lebanese refugees have fled the south of the country and the southern outskirts of the capital, Beirut. The government is accommodating them in buildings that are vacant during summer school vacations.
Following an emergency government session, Lebanon's Minister of Information Ghazi Aridi called on private school owners in the country to provide housing for refugees.
Aridi asked civil organizations and charities of the country to help those in need. "We must cooperate and help each other in these dire circumstances," the minister said.
