Rheinmetall Schweiz AG incorporated
Competent partner for Switzerland's army and public security authorities
07/12/2006
In setting up Rheinmetall Schweiz AG in Zurich, Düsseldorf-based Rheinmetall AG is buttressing its Defence sector operations in Switzerland. As a result, this leading European military systems supplier is converging under a common roof its market presence and the marketing efforts of its four defence divisions in Switzerland.
In the form of Rheinmetall Schweiz AG, customers now have a single competent point of contact to represent the complete capabilities as embodied in the four divisions Air Defence Systems, Defence Electronics, Land Systems, and Weapon Munition, and to coordinate Rheinmetall's activities on the Swiss market.
The new corporation allows Rheinmetall to respond more swiftly to customer requests, handle their requirements more efficiently, and where systems are in demand, offer the full range of available products and services.
Rheinmetall expects its new market presence to expand business opportunities by allowing it to focus its interests more closely on the important Swiss market. Given the growing modernization needs on the part of the Swiss army and the public security authorities, Rheinmetall with its broad range of products and capabilities identifies sound opportunities to play a major role as military systems supplier and contractor on the Swiss market.
In this context, Rheinmetall believes that the contracts specifically performed by its Swiss locations in Zurich (Oerlikon Contraves AG), Urdorf (I.L.E.E. ) as well as in Altdorf and Studen (RWM Schweiz) will strengthen these operations and keep the existing R&D and production capacities busy.
Rheinmetall Schweiz AG, domiciled at Birchstrasse 155 in Zurich, is incorporated. Its stockholders each with a 25-percent stake, are the division parents, viz., Rheinmetall Defence Electronics GmbH, headquartered in Bremen, Kiel-based Rheinmetall Landsysteme GmbH, Rheinmetall Waffe Munition GmbH, Ratingen, und Zurich-based Oerlikon Contraves AG.
The President of the five-member Board of Directors is Bodo Garbe. Managing Director and CEO of Rheinmetall Schweiz AG is Jörg A. Bischof.
