
Providers Return from Carrier Support

CORONADO, Calif. (NNS) -- Fleet Logistics Support Squadron (VRC) 30 returned home here with the USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 7, July 5, after a six-month deployment to the Persian Gulf and Western Pacific Ocean.
VRC-30 “The Providers” deployed with CSG 7, Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 14 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom and maritime security operations.
“Going out on Reagan’s maiden deployment was an excellent experience,” said Lt. Cmdr. Mark A. Nicholson, VRC-30 officer-in-charge. “The squadron worked together as a team.”
Aviation Structural Mechanic 2nd Class (AW) Ismael Santiago, who was greeted with family and friends said, “It’s awesome to be back. The deployment was a great experience, but I am looking forward to spending time with my family.”
According to Lt. j.g. Duane S. Bogatko, division officer to VRC-30, the squadron supported CSG 7 by moving more than 500,000 high priority cargo, such as critical parts and mail, and more than 3,200 passengers including over 600 distinguished guests to and from CSG 7 and their mission destinations reliably and efficiently.
During the deployment, Sailors from the Providers received the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal. They also received the Carrier Air Wing 14 Overall Excellence Award and the Fleet Service Deployment Award.
