IMMEDIATE RELEASE		June 8, 2006

            The Department of Defense announced today the death of two soldiers who were supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.  They died in Baghdad, Iraq, on June 6, when an improvised explosive device detonated near their M1A2 tank during combat operations.  Both soldiers were assigned to the 1st Battalion, 66th Armor Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.

            Killed were:
      
              1st Lt. Ryan T. Sanders, 27, of College Station, Texas.

              Sgt. Daniel R. Gionet, 23, of Pelham, N.H.
