Lankan government believes in peace process
New Delhi, June 22,IRNA -- Sri Lankan Minister of Media and Information Anura Priyadarshana Yapa said that there is no change in the Sri Lanka government's position with regard to the peace process, Norwegian facilitation and the Sri Lankan Monitoring Mission (SLMM).
While replying to questions at the post cabinet press conference today, the minister added that government did not have any objection to the current composition of the SLMM.
The Government believes they are here to perform a particular job as monitors in connection with peace process, official sources said from Colombo.
Though the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) has requested to drop Sweden, Denmark and Finland representative from the SLMM, The government has no problem with the SLMM.
Minister Yapa said that the Government was extremely concerned about violent activities perpetrated by the LTTE. "Still we are full of hope with regard to the peace process, that's why we went to Oslo to discuss this issue, though the LTTE did not come."
