No peace in Kahsmir unless militants are involved in talks: Hizb

Insisting that inclusion of militants in the talks process was the "sole guarantee" of peace, the Hizb-ul-Mujahideen, the main militant organization in Kashmir, criticized the government's claim that the people had grown weary (of the movement) as "hollow."
"By observing a total strike during the roundtable conference, people have made it clear that they yearn for independence and not merely for peace, and that they know fully well that real peace will come only when the goal of freedom is achieved," Hizb spokesman Junaid-ul-Islam was quoted by the local daily `Kashmir Observer' as saying.

He said that the successful attacks of militants had shown that they were better organized and more active than before.

"Today's strike should open the eyes of those who say that the people are fed up of the ongoing movement," he said.

The Hizb spokesman asked India to accept the ground realities and to take serious measures to resolve the Kashmir issue.

"Unless the militant leadership is involved in the talks, the dream of peace will remain unrealized," he said.
