SPLIT, Croatia (NNS) -- Croatian Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Kolinda Grabar-Kitaroviæ visited USS Enterprise (CVN 65) May 19 while the ship was in port for a four-day port visit in Split, Croatia.

Enterprise was in Split for its first port visit since deploying for her regularly scheduled six-month deployment May 2.

Commander, Enterprise Carrier Strike Group 12 Rear Adm. Ray Spicer and Enterprise Commanding Officer Capt. Larry Rice gave Grabar-Kitaroviæ a tour of various areas of the ship, including the hangar bay and the flight deck. The visit followed the Medal of Honor ceremony held for the late Chief Watertender Peter Tomich May 18.

“We were honored that she made a special trip down here,” said Rice. “The only purpose of her trip was to visit Enterprise and talk to the crew,” Rice said.

Accompanying Grabar-Kitarovic were Ambassador Dr. Ivaca Tomiæ, assistant minister, and Ambassador Neven Pelicariæ, chief of staff.

Enterprise, along with Carrier Strike Group 12, is currently operating in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of responsibility.
