MILLINGTON, Tenn. (NNS) -- The Enlisted Placement Management Center (EPMAC) began its merger into Navy Personnel Command (NPC) after a May 12 disestablishment ceremony at the Cook Convention Center in Memphis.

EPMAC's mission was to ensure proper manning levels and efficient placement of personnel throughout the Navy. Responsible for enlisted distribution and readiness, developing manning plans, and granting and tracking Navy Education Codes, EPMAC is now NPC PERS-4013.

“The merger will not affect our mission,” said EPMAC Commanding Officer Capt. Margaret R. Reed, who passed command to Rear Adm. Daniel P. Holloway, commander, NPC PERS-4. “Our basic functions remain.”

The result of the consolidation of three enlisted personnel distribution offices and three personnel accounting installations, EPMAC was created in July 1975 with the idea of infusing consistency in manpower and personnel policies, along with using a standardized automated processing system to support those polices.

Director of the Transients, Patients, Prisoners and Holdees Program, James A. Pridgen, an EPMAC plank owner, has seen many organizational changes over the 31 years of the command’s existence. Pridgen insists that the mission is steady and its accomplishment remains paramount.

“We have a sturdy group of folks here who have showed resilience and continue to accomplish the mission,” said Pridgen.
